Our clients are more than brides and grooms or mothers and fathers: they are multifaceted, interesting people with amazing life experiences and stories to be told. Our job is to capture some of those stories in photographs, and our diverse background helps us do just that.
The success of Boathouse Studios stems directly from our 15 years of experience photographing for high end, active lifestyle/sport and commercial/editorial clients all over the world. (check out our work:WEDGE Creative)
The incredible range of stories that we are asked to cover keeps our work fresh, our perspectives current and our photographs truly unique.
Photographing in the crash zones of big wave surf contests in Hawaii highlights the consequences of great timing, while meeting deadlines for newspapers reminds us of how important it is to produce amazing images consistently and efficiently.
Documenting in Tibetan monasteries illuminates the need for being discreet and thoughtful with each image we make, and photographing cancer survivors teaches us the virtue of patience, humor and the value of real moments.
There is just a different level of quality, professionalism and creativity that we are able to share as a result of our time traveling the world and having dealt with thousands of high pressure situations, all while keeping a cool head, a big smile and delivering world class images. Our clients love that.
Despite having photographed hundreds of weddings and hundreds of families, we most certainly find ourselves (happily) outside the normal scope of "wedding photographers” or “family photographers”. Our approach to photography is fundamentally different than most and we love it that way. Our mission on every photo shoot is to deliver incredible results that exceed expectations, all while having fun.
We believe that our wedding clients should be allowed to be in the moment and to enjoy their day without missing out on precious time with their guests because of photography. Our documentary style allows us to be relaxed and unobtrusive, while still being purposeful and getting amazing images.
We also believe that family photography needs to be relaxed enough so that real moments can happen effortlessly. Some of the comfort our clients feel around us occurs naturally because of who we are, but a lot of those feelings develop because we invest time and effort to understand who our clients are and how we can best capture their story.
The common thread that exists between wedding clients, magazine assignments and even families or large advertising campaigns is simple: there is a story to be told with each and every assignment we accept, and we are lucky to be the ones that get to capture it all!
